Troubleshooting IE Browser Problems

The following is a list of known browser issues and there corresponding fixes, as related to the NZ Police Association website.
Cannot access the Members Only login page.

If you still don't get to the login page ensure you have the correct web address, manually type into your browsers address bar the following https://www1.policeassn.org.nz  Note its very important to ensure you add the https:// at the begining.

If this still doesn't bring up the members only login page, the next step is to clear your internet browsers cache.

The Members Only website uses encryption in order to protect it's transmissions over the web, in order to do so your client must have encryption protocols enabled.  Otherwise a connection cannot be made. So lets check to see if encryption protocols are enabled in IE, go and open IE (Internet Explorer) and goto the 'Tools' menu, select the 'Internet Options'. Once the internet options page has opened, select the 'Advanced' tab (Situated top right). Next scroll down to the bottom where you should find the following 3 options. Ensure that at least Use SSL 3.0 & Use TLS 1.0 have ticks in them.

Cannot make Holiday Home Bookings.
If you can get into the Members Only website but only get a blank box, or a java logo, when attempting to add a holiday home booking, then these tips are for you.

The Holiday Homes system requires java to be installed on users PC's, you can download the latest version from this website  Link here. This should install the newest version of Java (TM) SE Runtime Environment (JRE).

Also some older versions of java have problems clearing there local cache.

Printing Problem.
Some text not printing out visible. Start IE. Click 'Tools' in the menu bar & select 'Internet Options'. Once the internet options window has opened click the 'advanced' tab. Scroll down to Printing and ensure that 'Print background colors and images' is ticked. Otherwise your browser will print your default color (White) as the background. Without this setting, light colored writing may come out unreadable on some printers. Note that this setting can use a lot more toner or ink, as your printer is now also printing the backgrounds.
Problems downloading forms.
In order to download and view our online forms you must have a current version of Adobe Acrobat Reader, which will allow you to view and print the PDF (Portable Digital Format) files. Acrobat Reader is available free from www.adobe.com. Most computers come with a pre-installed version, but it might not be new enough to view some forms. So if you open a form and all you get is a blank white document, then it's time to install the new version.
