Hamish Beckett - 1985

Hamish was a founding member of the Police and Families Credit Union.

Born in Kenya, he was raised in Africa, and lived there until 1949, when he travelled to Australia to train as a Veterinarian. Hamish came to New Zealand to study agriculture in 1950. He attended Police Training School in 1957, and was posted to Palmerston North.

In his role as Association Vice-President he worked tirelessly for the Early Retirement Scheme, which came into effect in 1985.

He retired from Police in 1985, and was awarded life membership that same year.
