Mark Leys - 2008
Mark first became an active member of the Police Association as a member of the Auckland Central Committee, following the 1981 Springbok Tour. He was responsible for setting up a Local Committee for Papakura, where from 1988 to 1993, he held various positions including Chairperson, Secretary and National Delegate.
Following Police restructuring in 1997, which saw the amalgamation of South Auckland and Papakura Policing Districts into Counties Manukau, Mark carried out the task of amalgamating the two Local Committees into one.
Mark was a Region Director from 1992 to 2007, becoming the longest serving Police Association Director, spending 15 years on the Board.
Mark was awarded Life Membership in 2008.
