Ronald (Ron) Halpin - 1989

Ron’s policing career spanned 33 years. At 21 he joined the police and entered training at Lyttelton in 1955, and was posted to Wellington that same year. In 1960 he was appointed as a detective in Auckland.

Ron served on the Auckland District Committee and was a correspondent for the then NZ Police Journal (now Police News). He was also Auckland District Chairman from 1965-1966 and remained on the district committee until his transfer to Napier in 1972.  Ron also served as Napier District delegate and in 1981 he was elected Vice-President, a position he held until 1986.  His last posting was to Ponsonby, where he stayed until his retirement in 1988.

In total Ron served the Association for 29 years.

Ron was awarded life membership in 1989.
