No Relief For Public In Auckland Police Staffing Report
"An Auckland public looking for improved policing service will not have their expectations met by the Commissioner’s report on Auckland policing," Police Association President Greg O’Connor said today.
Mr O’Connor was commenting on the report released today by the Commissioner of Police on Auckland staffing.
"The Commissioner has been courageous in criticising Government for the lack of flexibility he has to spend money where it is needed and the Association applauds his courage, however the proposed remedies only address the peripheral issues," Mr O’Connor said.
"The proposed remedies do nothing to provide the stable policing environment which ensures that experienced staff are retained to train the large number of new staff members arriving in Auckland over the next two years".
Mr O’Connor said the Association would continue to push to ensure that the Auckland public receive the necessary level of policing to make the city safe.
