Police Welfare Fund - Roadside Assist Plus

Free Roadside Assistance

If your vehicle has *‘Full Cover’ with Police Fire & General Insurance, there is a new feature with your cover: a professional roadside assistance service. *Vehicles which exceed 3.5 tonnes in weight, are not covered under the Roadside Assist.

Your car could have: a breakdown, a flat battery, a flat tyre, or maybe you’ve just run out of petrol, or locked the keys in the car.

At whatever time, you can call Police Welfare Fund Roadside Assist Plus for help on 0800 500 122.

The beauty of this service is that cover is free and attached to the insured vehicle, not the driver. It doesn’t matter who is driving your car - if they have a problem, the driver can contact the service.

Additional benefits of the free service include the provision of vehicle rental and/or accommodation if your vehicle breaks down 100 kms or more from your home. These benefits are not generally provided by other standard roadside support services.

About the cover

The New Zealand Automobile Association (NZAA) is contracted to supply Police Welfare Fund Roadside Assist Plus. All vehicles with ‘Full Cover’ (not third party policies) are covered, with Police Welfare Fund General Insurances meeting the cost of the service in full.

Police Welfare Fund Roadside Assist Plus provides roadside support for:

  • Mechanical Breakdown: The NZAA will provide assistance to restart the vehicle. When the vehicle cannot be restarted, cover includes an emergency taxi and towing the vehicle to a local repairer. If the breakdown occurs over 100km from home and the repairs will take over 24hrs to complete, cover includes accommodation and/or a rental vehicle (where available).
  • Vehicle Recovery.
  • Vehicle Lockout.
  • Flat Battery.
  • Flat Tyre..
  • No or Incorrect Fuel.

This is a summary of the support the NZAA provide through Police Welfare Fund Roadside Assist Plus. For a full and current description of services, always refer to the 'Police Welfare Fund Roadside Assist Plus Description of Services'.
