The New Zealand Police Association provides a range of products and services to both serving and retired police officers and their families. We have a team of more than 60 people in our national office in Wellington and eight employment advisors throughout New Zealand, providing support and advice to members – from legal and employment relations advocacy through to insurance and welfare products and services that enhance the day-to-day living of all our members.
About you
We are looking for a Primary Claims Assessors to join the Health Plan team on a fixed term basis for 18 months.
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Health Plan Primary Claims Assessor to join our team. In this role you will play a key part in delivering high-quality claims assessment and administrative support, ensuring an excellent experience for our members.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys balancing analytical work with customer service, and wants to make a meaningful impact in the health insurance industry. We are looking for someone that shows initiative and is a quick learner- experience in insurance is not essential but the right attitude is.
About the job
This is an 18 month fixed term role to provide support to the Health Plan team. In this role you will be required to undertake the following responsibilities:
Claims Management
Assess and manage health insurance claims in line with policy entitlements
Approve or decline claims within delegated authority, following established processes
Maintain an up to date understanding of health insurance policies and industry trends
Process payments to providers
Develop knowledge of common medical conditions and treatment options
Customer Service
Communicate claims decisions clearly and empathetically to member
Respond accurately and professionally to member queries about their claims and cover
Deliver a high standard of service while handling sensitive information
Ensure compliance with company policies, including privacy and confidentiality
Administration
Receive, sort and prioritise incoming mail (electronic and physical)
Accurately file claims and correspondence into relevant systems
Ensure all documentation is processed promptly and correctly
Provide general administrative support as required
