Nominations for president
The president position currently occupied by Chris Cahill is now open for nominations. It is for a three-year term. Chris has confirmed that after nine years in the job, he will not be seeking re-election.
The Police Association’s constitution allows for any two members to nominate any other association member for the position of president. An association district or area committee must endorse any nomination.
If more than one nomination is received, an election will be held on October 15, 2025, at the association’s annual conference.
Nomination forms are available from your association secretaries or on the association’s website, policeassn.org.nz. Member log-in will be required. Nominations close at 5pm on August 16.

Nominations for region directors and deputy region directors
Nominations are sought for four Police Association region director positions, along with deputy director roles in those regions. They are:
- Region 1 (Waitematā and Northland districts)
- Region 3 (Waikato and Bay of Plenty)
- Region 5 (PNHQ, RNZPC and Wellington district)
- Region 7 (Southern District)
The term for each position is two years. (Elections for roles in Regions 2, 4 and 6 are held in even-numbered years.)
Members seeking election for either a director or deputy director role must have served either one year as an office holder (secretary, chairperson, conference delegate or treasurer) or three years on a committee.
Nominations must be from an area or district committee and each committee is entitled to nominate only one member.
The election is carried out by the region committees. However, if there is only one overall nomination for a position, that person will automatically be elected.
