Vehicle accidents happen, so it's important to make sure your vehicle is protected from any loss or damage. Our members can choose from full cover, third party fire and theft, or third party only insurance.
Full cover
Full cover allows you to claim for accidental damage or theft of your private car, caravan or trailer, plus liability cover for damage to property of a third party.
Your vehicle will be covered for its market value* at the time of loss. This means if your vehicle is damaged beyond repair or stolen, the cover will pay the market value of the vehicle up to the sum insured (whichever is the lesser).
* if you are after a quote for your motorbike/caravan/campervan/trailer - please complete this form, and we will get back to you soon.
Replacement vehicle - if you replace your vehicle, we will automatically cover your new vehicle up to the value of $100,000 for up to 30 days.
Windscreen - your no-claims discount will not be affected and you will not have to pay any excess if you make a claim for accidental damage to your windscreen, window glass, sun roof, headlights, headlight protectors or tail lights.
Free 24-hour roadside assistance - if you have full cover for your vehicle, you have access to our professional roadside assistance service, free of charge. New vehicle replacement
If we consider the car to be a total loss, we will pay you the market value* up to the sum insured as shown on the schedule, or, we will replace the car with a new vehicle of the same model and specification. This is provided the loss occurred within 12 months of you purchasing the car new, and that the model and specification is available in New Zealand.
Excess
The standard excess is $400.
Imposed
(This is additional to the standard excess and determined by the underwriters based on relevant factors, such as driving record and type of vehicle).
Underage driver excess (in addition to the standard and any imposed excess).
- If you are over 21 but under 25 the excess is $500.
- If you are under 21 the excess is $750.
- If you are an inexperienced driver of any age (e.g. the driver or person in charge of the vehicle has not held a licence for all of the preceding 12 months) the excess is $750.
If you have selected the named driver option then any other drivers will have an additional excess of $200 applied.
Third party only cover
This covers you for legal liability for damage caused by your vehicle to someone else's property. In addition, your car is covered up to $3000 for accidental damage and you will not have to pay an excess if the driver of the other car is uninsured, provided you can identify the driver and establish that they are completely at fault.
Third party, fire and theft cover
You have cover as explained in 'third party only' and in addition, you're covered if your car catches fire, or is stolen. Your vehicle will be covered for its market value* at the time of loss. This means if your vehicle is damaged beyond repair or stolen, the cover will pay the market value of the vehicle up to the sum insured.
Innocent party protection
Your no claims discount will not be affected and your excess will be refunded if you are involved in an accident where the other person is completely at fault and you can establish the other driver's identity.
